Online detection of chlorophyll concentration, algae
classes and photosynthetic activity

The bbe Algae Online Analyzer offers:
- online chlorophyll analysis for measuring stations as well
as for laboratory use
- simultaneous determination of chlorophyll concentration,
photosynthetic activity of chlorophyll and transmission.
- determination of different algae classes by excitation using
colored LED's; calculation of the content of green algae,
blue-green algae, brown algae (diatoms and dinoflagellates) and
cryptophyceae.
- direct measurement without sample preparation by filtration
or solvents.
- information on the photosynthetic activity of chlorophyll
due to different patterns of excitation, correlated to oxygen
evolution; the commonly used fluorescence signals f0, f, fm
referring to the Genty parameter method are used for
calculation.
- yellow substance measurement (CDOM) to correct the
calculation of the content of chlorophyll

Functions of the bbe AlgaeOnlineAnalyser
Measurements are taken quasi-continually. The sample is
pumped into the measuring chamber by the integrated pump. The
concentration and activity of the algae, as well as the spectral
algae class distribution, are determined by the controlled
fluorescence excitation. After the chamber has been pumped
empty, it is cleaned by a mechanical piston.

Measurements
- of direct chlorophyll fluorescence.
- corresponds to wet-chemical chlorophyll analysis. of active
chlorophyll fluorescence in the sample (Genty method)
- shows the percentage of photosynthetically active
chlorophyll under defined conditions differentiation of
fluorometric algae classes
- to simultaneously determine the content of chlorophyll
according to green algae, blue-green algae, brown algae (diatoms
and dinoflagellates) and cryptophyceae transmission:
- takes place automatically during each analysis and if
necessary, can be used to compensate the influence of substances
which cause turbidity yellow substances (CDOM)
- influences the result due to its fluorescence; to improve
the chlorophyll measurement, the yellow substance content is
determined and used automatically for the chlorophyll correction
